USD/JPY at 1-month high on rising U.S. yields Aug 16 at 12:51 GMT
ForexSpace.com (LONDON) – The dollar rose to a one-month high against the yen today, extending gains after recent upbeat U.S. data pushed Treasury yields higher and cooled expectations of further monetary easing by the Federal Reserve.
As the corrective movement from the USD/JPY latest upside to 79.36 high appears to have been finalized at 79.13 session low, the pair is on to recover those retraced gains back to 79.36 and possibly beyond.
The pair has regressed to 79.28 so far. A daily New York close above 79.20 is needed to negate recent downside pressure for a rally to the 80.63 June high to unfold in the weeks to come. Do not rule out a slide back towards 78.03/77.90 if the USD/JPY doesn’t close above 79.20.
